Facebook, LinkedIn, Plaxo, Twitter, Xing what social network should I use?
Comments
If you don’t know what to do with your time register for every available social network. But for me keeping all my social network accounts up to date is taking too much time. It’s possible to use all kind of tools to link all different networks, but what’s use in it? Is that social? Couldn’t we just all together agree to use just one or two social networks? Which one would win? Please vote on our poll!
Pro’s and con’s of social networks
Social networks in my opinion are very useful. They enable us to stay posted about things happening in our friends’ lives. They give you easy access to news items and for me relevant developments. Unfortunately, there are drawbacks as well. Last week I started editing my profile at just another social network. “Why am I doing this over and over again?” was the question that came to my mind. I already have too many profiles and mostly I am just copying the data from one profile to the other.
I truly believe it is useful too have many kinds of social networks, because different networks can address different subjects connecting different groups of people. But wouldn’t it be great to have one core profile that would be the basis for all the others? I think this would make the online social life a lot easier.
Which social network qualifies to become the core profile?
If we all agree this would be useful the next question would be which basic profile would win. In my opinion there is hardly any difference between e.g. Facebook, LinkedIn and Plaxo concerning the basic profile data. Especially, LinkedIn and Plaxo are just becoming more similar with every update. In my opinion, they are both lacking something essential to survive: interaction. For me they are becoming too passive. And just copying your interaction from other media here is a bit too dull. Still it takes plenty of time to be visible on all of them.
Which one would you choose?
In one of my previous post I wrote that I wasn’t so fond of Facebook. That changed after releasing Facebook 3.0 for iPhone. To be honest I do not yet know which one I would choose. Please vote below and we will present the results of these poll soon. Together we might be able to influence some decision makers! You can select up to 3 answers.
Besides your vote we would like to know your opinion as well. Feel free to add it below! You can also discuss with us on Twitter: @GOYELLO.
