Market share Windows 7 is growing quickly
View Comments
Windows 7 was released less than a month ago and it’s being adopted rather quickly. According to w3schools.com in October it already had a market share of 4,4%. Knowing Mac’s OSX has a share of 6,8% we could say this is pretty impressive. Given the speed at which the percentage is climbing, Windows 7 should pass the install base of OSX sometime in the next two months.
We already mentioned before we were positively surprised by Windows 7. It occurs to be a much faster and more reliable OS than its predecessor Microsoft Vista. For sure Vista didn’t climb as fast as this during its early days. Probably this is also because of the XP support within Windows 7.

Checking the internet user statistics we have access to, I conclude the Windows 7 adoption is going the quickest among “Tech users”. Among the visitors of this blog there are already almost 12% Windows 7 users, compared to 11% of Mac OSX. Consumers seem not to be that interested yet. On several of our clients websites and portals I just notice about 2% of Windows 7 users and 6,95% of Mac OSX. Knowing what you have to do to switch your OS, in my opinion, that is a logical conclusion. Consumers will automatically find Windows 7 on the new machines they are going to buy in the upcoming time. Don’t you manage to find the Windows 7 users in the chart above? For some reason Google Analytics shows Windows 7 users as Windows NT users. Hopefully that issue will be solved soon.
Meanwhile also the percentage of Apple users (Mac OSX) is slightly increasing. May be there anti Windows 7 campaign a bit successful. But to be honest I think most users will stick to Windows anyway.
