Jakub, you're definitely right about ease of installation for now. It's on our to-do list. (: Right now Apostrophe's greatest appeal is to Symfony developers who, like you, actually want to write some code and do some custom stuff; and the greatest payoff for us in open sourcing it is in the insightful comments and patches such developers tend to have. But do we want to go after a wider audience? Oh yeah!

I meant such a CMS that everyone can download and install (like Drupal). So no big knowledge about PHP is required and Designer on his own can set it up.

Regarding ease of use I didn't test Apostrophe yet but I have plans to do so. I'm thinking about small comparison with Sympal and Diem. I find symfony based CMS useful for custom projects where some CMS is still needed.

Re: the current crop of CMSes for Symfony, it is true that it will take a long time to equal the feature set of Drupal... depending on how you look at it of course. If you consider the Symfony admin generator and some amount of PHP development and incorporation of other Symfony plugins to be good things for your project, then existing Symfony CMSes are quite featureful already. But if you're looking to build a CMS without writing any PHP code then sure, Drupal is certainly much further down that road for now.

Regarding ease of use though, I would ask you to take a look at the Apostrophe demo:

Our clients have found it to be much easier to administer and edit than Drupal. We're emphasizing good design even more highly than good coding practices (an area where all Symfony CMSes are likely to beat Drupal (: ).
